About the Collective

Network of education activists engaged in the mutual processes of teaching and learning.

Fighting Back Against Curricular Oppression, One Student at a Time

Liberation Education Collective is in solidarity with:

  • School communities who have refused to comply with the government’s “anti-woke/anti-CRT” agenda and instead continue to uplift Black, brown, & Indigenous ways of knowing, many of whom have lost federal funding

  • Public school educators, parents, and students navigating racist, ableist, transphobic, and otherwise oppressive policies that strip away the educational agency of young folks and caregivers alike

Students deserve to know about the world they live in, not the version the far-right political actors want them to learn. They deserve the right to be in the drivers’ seat of their education.

We believe that by engaging young people in knowledge stewardship and skill-building, they will be better equipped to engage with the world in meaningful, values-aligned ways as they grow into adulthood.

Collective: a horizontal structure comprised of instructors, community members, parents, & young people with a shared vision for change

At Liberation Education Collective, every member gets a say. And after successful completion of 1 course, every student and parent is a member.

Our Collective Principles:

  • Everyone brings something unique to the space

  • We are here to uplift each others’ visions, dreams, & needs for a more just world

  • We resource each other to resist fascism in all its forms

  • We believe small actions can make big impact

  • We are all learners & we are all teachers

  • We make decisions as a collective through discussion, inquiry, and consensus when necessary
